Tours and curiosities of one of the most beautiful Renaissance monuments ever built!

728*90

The Reggia of Venaria is one of the most visited monuments in the city, along with the Egyptian Museum, the Mole Antonelliana, the Automobile Museum, the Royal MuseumsPalazzo Madama, and the GAM.

Here are some useful tips for arriving prepared:

  1. Plan your visit in advance; the earlier you do it, the more options you'll have for choosing the day and time slot. During weekends, there will be more people, but there's always a limited number of visitors for each time slot to avoid endless queues.
  2. Book your tours online and download your ticket to your phone to skip the lines at the ticket office.
  3. If you're not staying in accommodation near the monument, check public transportation options in advance and how long it takes to reach there. Find your perfect stay near the Reggia of Venaria!
  4. Dress comfortably and in layers so you can adapt to different temperatures.

1) Vast Royal Residence: The Reggia di Venaria is one of the largest royal residences in the world, spanning over 80,000 square meters and including 50 hectares of gardens. It was designed to be a symbol of the power and grandeur of the House of Savoy.

2) Hunting Lodge Origins: Originally, the Reggia di Venaria was built as a hunting lodge for Duke Charles Emmanuel II of Savoy in the 17th century. The name "Venaria" derives from the Latin word "venari," meaning "to hunt."

3) Baroque Masterpiece: The palace is renowned for its stunning Baroque architecture, designed by the architect Amedeo di Castellamonte. It features elaborate decorations, grand halls, and impressive frescoes.

4) Restoration and Revival: After falling into disrepair over the centuries, the Reggia di Venaria underwent a massive restoration project starting in 1999. The restoration, which took several years and cost over 200 million euros, was one of the largest cultural heritage projects in Europe.

5) UNESCO World Heritage Site: In 1997, the Reggia di Venaria was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site listing as part of the "Residences of the Royal House of Savoy." This designation recognizes its historical and cultural significance.
