Hiroshige Dreamscapes Turin exhibition

24 July - 29 November

24/07/2026 – 29/11/2026
Hiroshige Dreamscapes Turin exhibition; from July 24 to November 29, 2026, Turin’s MAO Museo di Arte Orientale hosts “Paesaggi da sogno / Dreamscapes,” a major exhibition highlighting Utagawa Hiroshige’s masterwork series, The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō, from the UniCredit Art Collection. Featuring 36 original woodblock prints (ukiyo-e), the display reconstructs the immersive visual journey along the historical coastal route connecting Kyoto to Edo (modern-day Tokyo). Curated by Laura Vigo and Claudia Ramasso, the exhibition pairs Hiroshige’s poetic landscapes with authentic 18th- and 19th-century travel artifacts from the Royal Museums of Torino, including a lacquered wooden saddle (kura) and Felice Beato’s historic photograph album Views of Japan. It offers an unforgettable, atmospheric dive into the culture, landscapes, and daily life of Edo-period Japan.
