. FIRST SECTION – Who is Olivier Latry?
Considered the leading global ambassador for his instrument, French organist Olivier Latry has performed in the world’s most prestigious venues and concert halls, appeared as a guest soloist with top international orchestras under renowned conductors, recorded for major labels, and premiered an impressive number of works.
Appointed titular organist of Notre-Dame in Paris at the age of 23 (a position he still holds) and named professor of organ at the Paris Conservatory in 1995, Olivier Latry is a musician who explores the full spectrum of organ music, possessing exceptional talent for improvisation.
In 2009, he was named “International Performer of the Year” by the American Guild of Organists. Furthermore, he performs regularly at venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Philharmonie de Paris, Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Davies Hall in San Francisco, and many others around the world.

. SECOND SECTION – Why Strambino, and why is the Serassi organ special?
Among the instruments built by Giuseppe II Serassi between 1799 and 1817, the monumental organ in the Church of Saints Michael and Solutore in Strambino is second in size only to the renowned instrument created in 1806โ1807 for the Sanctuary of the Most Holy Crucifix of the Annunziata in Como.
Furthermore, it is the only one to have survived completely intact, following an expansion by the Serassi family themselves in 1865, right up to its recent restoration, completed in 2019 by organ builder Marco Renolfi.
Built between 1808 and 1812, the Strambino organ fully embodies the concept of “monumental.” This is evident in everything from its magnificent wooden case, designed by local architect Francesco Martelli, to its vast array of pipework, totaling nearly 3,000 pipes. Notable features include the grand Ripieno pyramids, a comprehensive bass section anchored by 24-foot Contrabassi, and numerous reed stops, most notably the high-pressure Trombe Tirolesi (16′ and 8′). Finally, there are the extraordinary dimensions of the Secondo Organo (Second Organ), which alone comprises over 1,000 pipes, the largest such division ever created by the Serassi organ-building family in nearly two centuries of activity.

AODC (Associazione Organistica Del Canavese) is a non-profit cultural organization (Third Sector Entity) established in 2019 and formally constituted in 2022. It was founded by a group of young organists and enthusiasts from Ivrea with the aim of promoting the art and culture of organ music in the Canavese region and Piedmont at large. The association fosters awareness and builds networks through a variety of initiatives, events, concerts, and projectsโall grounded in inclusivity and a commitment to engaging new generations.
In addition to its concert activities, the association aims to introduce people to the fascinating world of the organโand help them rediscover itโthrough social media and multimedia content, historical research and the cataloging of musical heritage, workshops and guided tours for schools, and the promotion of organ music in both educational and liturgical contexts.
The Associazione Salvaguardia Chiese Strambino (ASCS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural heritage, history, and appreciation of the local area’s beauty by promoting the restoration and preservation of the artistic, historical, and religious assets of the municipality of Strambino. Furthermore, it strives to foster tourism interest in the region and its historical-cultural treasures, particularly the churches of Strambino.
Specifically, the ASCS contributes to the maintenance and restoration costs of Strambinoโs various 18th-century churchesโwith a particular focus on the Parish Church of Saints Michael and Solutorโand organizes sacred and secular music concerts to highlight the significance of the prestigious Serassi organ housed within. Additionally, the association produces and publishes informational materials and publications to promote the area’s artistic richness.
