A natural lake in the heart of Canavese

Lake of Candia is one of the most important natural lakes in the Canavese region and one of the most scenic within the Ivrea morainic amphitheatre.
Its origin dates back to the last Ice Age, when large glaciers shaped the landscape, creating morainic hills, plains and several lakes across the area.
Covering around 1.5 square kilometres, the lake lies between the municipalities of Candia Canavese and Vische and is surrounded by a rich natural environment of wetlands, reeds and woodland. Thanks to this ecosystem, the area hosts many species of birds and wildlife and is now protected within the Parco Naturale del Lago di Candia.
Today the lake is a popular destination for visitors looking to enjoy nature, outdoor activities and peaceful landscapes just a short distance from Turin.
