A fairytale castle in the heart of Canavese

The Pavone Castle is one of the most fascinating and best-preserved castles in Canavese. Located in the village of Pavone Canavese, just a few kilometres from Ivrea, it stands out for its striking appearance, with towers, battlements and walls that evoke a classic medieval atmosphere.

Its slightly elevated position and excellent state of preservation make it one of the most scenic destinations in the area. Today, it represents a remarkable example of medieval architecture reinterpreted over time.

Medieval origins

The castle dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was built as a defensive structure to control the territory and communication routes of Canavese.

Over time, it was expanded and modified, passing through different noble families who shaped its development and function.

A castle between history and reinterpretation

Pavone Castle is particularly unique because it underwent major restoration works between the 19th and 20th centuries, giving it a distinctive neo-medieval appearance.

While preserving original elements, the castle was enriched with decorative features that enhance its charm, creating the “fairytale” look it has today.

Transformations over time

Throughout its history, the castle evolved from a defensive fortress into a noble residence and later into a venue for hospitality and events.

Restoration works helped preserve and reinterpret its spaces, combining historical character with modern comfort. This transformation allows the castle to remain active and relevant today.

The castle today

Today, Pavone Castle is used for events, weddings and accommodation, making it one of the most lively and accessible castles in Canavese. It can be visited during events or by staying at the property.

Its unique atmosphere and elegant setting make it a popular choice for ceremonies and cultural initiatives. Its proximity to
Ivrea also makes it easy to include in travel itineraries.
