A forest lake surrounded by alpine nature

Lake Meugliano is located in the Valchiusa area, at about 750 meters above sea level, immersed in a dense alpine forest. Unlike many other lakes in the Canavese area, it is not of glacial origin but rather of natural moraine origin (like those of Alice, Candia, and Viverone); the surrounding forest, however, is “artificial” in the sense that it is the result of reforestation in the 1930s.
The lake has perfectly integrated into the surrounding natural landscape, becoming over time one of the most evocative places in the Canavese area. Surrounded by trees and paths, it offers an intimate, almost mountainous atmosphere, unlike the more open lakes of the plain.
Today, Lake Meugliano is highly regarded for its scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere. The dark waters, the reflections of the forest, and the silence make it an ideal destination for those seeking authentic nature and particularly photogenic scenery.
An interesting fact: Among these trees are the tallest trees in Piedmont: they are Douglas firs, exceeding 56 metres, and are part of the reforestation carried out 90 years ago.
