The main lake between Canavese and Biella

The Viverone lake is one of the main lakes in Piedmont and a key destination in the Canavese area. Located between the provinces of Turin and Biella, it is a glacial lake formed during the last Ice Age within the Ivrea morainic amphitheatre. Its size and location make it a central point for tourism in the region.
Throughout history, the lake has also played an important archaeological role. Remains of prehistoric pile dwellings from the Bronze Age have been discovered here, now part of the UNESCO World Heritage alpine pile-dwelling sites. This connection adds cultural value to the natural setting.
Today, Lago di Viverone is a well-rounded destination that combines nature, relaxation and outdoor activities. Its swimmable waters, equipped beaches and available services make it ideal for both day trips and longer stays.
